A Happy New Year to all of our exisiting clients, suppliers and friends - we hope you all have a great year ahead! It seems like a good time to have a look back at 2019 and some of the trends that we have noticed and some of the makes & models that have been top sellers in the market from ourselves.
To start, we have noticed a strong move away from Diesel engined cars (and to a lesser extent Vans also) especially for lower mileage useage. It used to be the case that anyone covering more than approx 10,000 miles per anum would always be better off in a Diesel car, however this is definitely not the case nowadays and the cut-off point is now a much higher mileage, probably more like 15,000. Also, the type of driving (ie long journeys or local town driving) also makes an impact as to which version is more cost efficient. The alternative was always to go for a Petrol engine but, as you know, the other new rival in the market is to consider Hybrid Electric versions, or even 100% Electric versions (like the Nissan Leaf) - and there are more models being launched and improved all of the time.
SUV's and 4x4's have remained as a significant sized market for us - and again, there is also a definite move towards Petrol and Hybrid versions of these. The choice, quality and also the range of the Hybrid/Electric versions is definitely hugely improving and helping this market to expand. The main thing often lacking, are the amount and reliability of the public charging points within many regions of the country and this really does need to improve to allow a much larger growth of sales.
Let's move onto some of the bigger sellers we have noted:
Our top sellers by Manufacturer are: Volkswagen and Audi by a long way - then others would be: Volvo, Hyundai, Mazda, Ford, BMW, Toyota and Land Rover. And a sprinkling of others from: Citroen, Mercedes (it has dropped from one of our top spots last year!), SEAT, Skoda, Nissan, Kia, Fiat, Renault and Honda.
In the Commercial Vehicle hall of fame this year are: Toyota Hi-Lux, Nissan Navara, Mercedes Vito and Citan, Ford Transits (Custom and Connect models mainly), Vauxhall Vivaro, Renault Trafic, Citroen Dispatch and Berlingo.
The cars can be broken down into several sections: (all photos are supplied by our happy customers - so a big thnk you to them for sending these in to us!)
1) Volkswagen Passat - a great all rounder, well priced in various engine types and much liked by the Drivers.
2) Volkswagen Golf - always a good, reliable car as a slightly smaller alternative to the Passat, and again, it comes in a good variety of engine types.
3) Audi A3 and A6
4) Volkswagen Tiguan
5) Toyota Corolla (Hybrid)
6) And Range Rover Sport and Velar
1) Volkswagen Golf, Tiguan
2) Hyundai Tucson
3) Mazda CX-5
4) Volvo XC60
5) Audi Q5
And here are a couple of photos of the Commercial Vehicles:
